Reasons to Pray

The topic of prayer has been on my mind lately. I have had discussions with my husband about the power of prayer and I will always remember a dear friend of mine asking me about the point of prayer. I wrote this poem to answer my friend about prayer.

I know every good and perfect gift comes from above.

And I know my Father in heaven is a God of love.

So I pray to Him because I know that He cares.

What I can’t carry myself, He Himself bears.

The prayers are not to receive the desires of my heart.

Or to stop my tears even before they start.

It’s about a relationship with Him Who gave His life for me.

And Who has it in His power to truly set me free.

Free to be transformed, free to just let go.

Of bitterness and hatred tearing at my soul.

In Him, I find comfort from the bad that comes my way.

Strength to face tomorrow and hope for a better day.

So I will acknowledge every good thing that comes from above.

And give thanks to my Father in heaven, Who is the God of love.

I hope this will give you some reasons to pray and understand how prayer connects us to God Almighty. It is a pretty powerful relationship that develops when we can pour our hearts out to Him. Blessings to you all.
