Renewing the Mind – Four Bible Verses

I think too often Scripture is quoted out of context, but I also believe that sometimes a single verse or thought in Scripture can provide a lot of insight and comfort.  When I need to renew the mind, I turn to Scripture for inspiration and focus. The following verses have helped with renewing my mind. I hope they can inspire others to do the same.

First Verse for Renewing the Mind

2 Corinthians 10:5 We are destroying speculations and every lofty thing raised up against the knowledge of God, and we are taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ.

The mind is certainly a battlefield and I find most of my struggles are internal.

Second Verse for Renewing the Mind

Romans 12:2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.

There is so much in this verse and this renewing of the mind seems to be tied to the will of God.

Third Verse for Renewing the Mind

Romans 8:6 For the mind set on the flesh is death, but the mind set on the Spirit is life and peace.

I certainly could use peace in my mind and my life.

Fourth Verse for Renewing the Mind

Philippians 4:8 Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things.

When I start to obsess over negative things and people that make me upset, I quote this verse to myself as a way to shift my focus to something good.

I find all these verses to be wonderfully inspiring for renewing the mind. I pray you will be encouraged and reminded of these wonderful verses when renewing the mind.
